Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How is Monarch™ composite decking made?
A: Monarch™ composite decking is made by combining virgin polymer and recycled wood flour from the furniture and flooring industry. Our manufacturing process is simple, yet effective. Finely ground wood flour is mixed with molten plastic, encapsulating each particle to minimize direct exposure to the elements. This process makes Monarch stronger than some other composite products and, unlike wood, is covered in a limited warranty not to rot, split, splinter, and crack or suffer structural damage.
Q: I'm researching composite decking as an alternative to wood because I'm tired of the annual upkeep. How much time will I have to spend taking care of a Monarch™ deck once I install it?
A: Monarch™ decking requires very low maintenance. For more informational tips about
how to set up your new Monarch deck for minimal maintenance and continuing care recommendations see the
Product Care Guide below.
Q: It appears that a wood deck costs so much less to build than a composite deck. Why would I spend more money on Monarch™?
A: A wood deck may seem less expensive at first glance, but when you factor in the annual time and maintenance costs, a Monarch™ composite deck costs less (both in money and time) than wood within 4 to 5 years. Long term, Monarch deck makes a great deal of sense economically. Plus, it is an investment in your leisure time.
Q: How do I determine how much Monarch™ decking I'll need for my project?
A: Monarch™ boards are manufactured in standard lengths of 4.8 and 6.0 metres; so plan your deck as if you were using timber and your deck dimensions will determine how much Monarch you'll need. A good rule of thumb is to add 10% to your final measurements to take into account waste and mistakes. Additionally your local Monarch™ reseller will be happy to assist you in your determining product needs.
Q. Some of the Monarch™ deck boards have some colour variation. Is this normal?
A: Yes. Monarch™ uses a patent-pending colour process and the colour variations are due to natural colour variations in the wood fiber and virgin polymers. Actually, this makes each board unique and one-of-a-kind, with colour veining, shading and graining realistic in every detail. The Monarch exclusive colour veining and shading extends through the entire board, so even cut surfaces look just like wood. The Monarch Green Tree™ deck boards are as workable as wood itself; they can be cut, ripped and routed to create virtually any wood structural design.
